Injury and suspension updates for Arsenal vs. Man City: Bukayo Saka latest, three out, and two in doubt.

For their Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday, Manchester City will be without just a few players.

For their top-of-the-table Premier League matchup against Manchester City on Sunday, Arsenal’s wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are expected to be available, according to manager Mikel Arteta.

The defending champions lead the division once more going into their matchup against their closest foe from the previous year, with Arsenal a point back after seven games.

Furthermore, the availability of the Gunners’ two key attackers may determine whether they remain in the top spot going into the international break in October.

Saka was replaced in the first half of Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Lens due to ongoing injury issues over the previous weeks.

Despite Saka’s inclusion in the England squad less than 48 hours after Arteta’s admission that the issue doesn’t look good, Arsenal supporters still have hope that their star player will be available this weekend.

Martinelli has missed the last five games across all competitions and hasn’t played since September 17. The Brazilian is anticipated to sit out again against City, and even if healthy, it seems unlikely he’ll be ready to join the starting lineup right away.

The only player for the London club who is a guaranteed absence is Jurrien Timber, who is anticipated to miss the entire 2024 season due to an ACL injury he suffered on the first weekend of the Premier League season.

Following recent knocks, Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Leandro Trossard, and Thomas Partey are all available.

Rodri won’t be playing for City under Pep Guardiola for a second straight Premier League game. The 27-year-old missed the following games against Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers after receiving a red card during the team’s recent victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Spaniard missed just two league games last season, one of which came after City had won the championship, so his loss will be felt particularly keenly in the midfield.

Among the candidates to start in the middle in Rodri’s absence are Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes, Kalvin Phillips, and Rico Lewis.

For the victory over RB Leipzig on Wednesday in the Champions League, Bernardo Silva and John Stones were back in the lineup, although Stones did not play.

The only other member of City who is not present is Kevin De Bruyne, who has a hamstring injury that will keep him out until the new year.

Saka and Martinelli (Arsenal) are suspect.

Out are Rodri and De Bruyne for City; Timber (Arsenal).
