“NASCAR Legend Warns Kyle Larson: Joining F1 Would Be ‘Career Suicide'”

LIVE FEED REPORT: Dave Moody Raises Doubts on Kyle Larson’s Formula 1 Future

Renowned sportscaster Dave Moody has shared his thoughts on Kyle Larson’s potential transition to Formula 1, and the veteran broadcaster’s take is anything but optimistic.

During a recent episode of SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Moody expressed strong skepticism about the feasibility of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion stepping into the world of single-seater, open-wheel racing. Highlighting Larson’s undeniable skill, Moody did not mince words when addressing the chances of such a move.

“You’ve heard me rave about Kyle Larson for years now. He can finish second in a shopping cart,” Moody said. “But they are not going to pluck him. Nobody is going to pluck Kyle Larson or anybody else out of a NASCAR stock car and say, ‘Come on kid, we’re going to Europe and we’re putting you in an F1 car.'”

The veteran broadcaster went a step further, calling the idea “career suicide” for both the driver and any team willing to take such a gamble.

“Never, ever, ever going to happen,” Moody emphasized. “It would be, in career terms, suicidal for Kyle Larson to try and do that as talented as he is. And it would be suicidal for a team to try and have someone do such a thing.”

However, Moody didn’t completely rule out the possibility of Larson making a leap into Formula 1, suggesting that a more deliberate, long-term approach would be the only viable path.

“So if Kyle Larson wants to go Formula 1 racing, he’s three to five years down the road. Whether that would be something that he would entertain or not, don’t know,” Moody explained. “But in my opinion, the only way to do it would be the way I just talked about. And it’s not a one-year or a two-year deal.”

Zak Brown’s Tease on Kyle Larson’s F1 Prospects

Interestingly, Moody’s comments come after McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown stirred speculation about Larson’s future in F1 earlier this year. During an appearance on the Happy Hour Podcast with Kevin Harvick, Brown revealed that discussions about Larson competing in a Formula 1 race have already taken place.

“Yeah, we’ve been chatting about it,” Zak Brown admitted. “Kyle, as you can imagine, definitely wants to do it. Between our schedule, which goes from February to December, and NASCAR’s schedule, which I think is February to November, finding that window is tough.”

Brown added with confidence, “So I’d love to see Kyle in an F1 car. It is something that we’ve discussed, and something I think will happen down the road.

What’s Next for Kyle Larson?

For now, Kyle Larson remains focused on his immediate goals. Next year, the Hendrick Motorsports ace will again take on the grueling Memorial Day Double, competing in both the Indy 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 with Arrow McLaren.

While the road to Formula 1 seems distant and uncertain, one thing is clear: the conversation surrounding Kyle Larson’s global motorsport future is far from over.
