Vikings Make Key Moves: Nahshon Wright Signs, Trishton Jackson Heads to Cardinals

Vikings Add Nahshon Wright on Futures Deal, Trishton Jackson Heads to Arizona

The Minnesota Vikings have bolstered their cornerback depth by signing Nahshon Wright to a reserve/futures contract, the team confirmed Friday.

Wright, a 26-year-old cornerback, joined the Vikings in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys last August. The deal involved Wright and Andrew Booth Jr., two former top-100 draft picks looking for fresh starts. Wright played in the Vikings’ final preseason games and spent most of the season on the practice squad. His only regular-season action came in Week 13 against the Cardinals, where he played on special teams.

Originally a third-round pick by Dallas in 2021, Wright’s size and length (6’4”) make him a unique asset at the cornerback position. However, his career has yet to take off, as he logged just 272 defensive snaps over three seasons with the Cowboys before being traded to Minnesota. Meanwhile, Booth, the 42nd overall pick in 2022, played five games for Dallas this season, earning a concerning 35.6 PFF grade.

The Vikings have assembled an intriguing group of cornerbacks as they prepare for an offseason with several key free agents, including Byron Murphy Jr., Stephon Gilmore, Shaq Griffin, and Fabian Moreau. Alongside Wright, the team has signed Ambry Thomas, Reddy Steward, and Kahlef Hailassie to futures contracts. They’ll compete for roles behind young standout Mekhi Blackmon and any veteran cornerbacks the Vikings bring in during free agency, which could include retaining Murphy.

Trishton Jackson Joins Arizona Cardinals

Wide receiver Trishton Jackson, who spent most of the past four years on the Vikings’ practice squad, is heading to Arizona after signing a futures deal with the Cardinals.

Jackson first joined Minnesota’s practice squad in September 2021. Despite showing flashes of potential during training camps and preseason games—including three touchdown catches this past preseason—Jackson struggled to secure a consistent role during the regular season. He played just 80 offensive snaps in 2023 and only ten in 2024.

The 26-year-old, who turns 27 in March, has previously signed futures deals with the Vikings in three consecutive offseasons. Now, he’ll seek a fresh start and an opportunity to make an impact in Arizona’s receiving corps.
