FROM COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 21 South Carolina Gamecocks remain unstoppable! In yet another dominant performance, South Carolina (12-0) secured a 9-1 run-rule victory over Boston University (8-3) on Friday night, keeping their perfect season intact. This marks the seventh straight run-rule win and their eighth in just 12 games.
Nealy Lamb continued her stellar form, picking up the win and improving to 4-0 on the season. She struck out four of the seven batters she faced, maintaining her flawless record. Sam Gress set the tone early, starting in the circle for South Carolina and delivering three solid innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out three.
But it was Boston that struck first! Brooke Deppiesse sent a solo home run over the fence in the third inning, putting the Terriers on the board. However, that moment of celebration was short-lived as the Gamecocks took complete control.
The Gamecock offense ignited in the fourth inning, plating five runs to take command. Abigail Knight sparked the rally with an RBI double, tying the game at 1-1. She then advanced to third on the throw, setting up Natalie Heath, who lifted a sacrifice fly to bring Knight home for the lead. Ella Chancey delivered the biggest blow of the inning, smashing a bases-clearing double to left field, extending South Carolina’s lead to 5-1.
The Gamecocks weren’t done yet! In the bottom of the fifth, Knight delivered again, launching her second RBI-double of the game. Moments later, Quincee Lilio sealed the deal, drilling another bases-clearing double to walk it off in emphatic fashion. Final score: 9-1, Gamecocks!
South Carolina now shifts focus to Saturday’s doubleheader in the Garnet and Black Invitational. They’ll face Boston again at 1:00 p.m., followed by a showdown with Fordham at 3:30 p.m. Stay tuned for more action as the Gamecocks continue their red-hot start!
