Aliyah Boston’s Emotional Reaction After Former Teammate Was Drafted

The WNBA Draft turned into a major moment for the University of South Carolina, especially during the second round, where the spotlight shone brightly on players coached by Dawn Staley.

Three of the first four picks in the round hailed from the Gamecocks program. Leading the charge was Te-Hina Paopao, taken 18th overall by the Atlanta Dream. Right after her came Makayla Timpson of Florida State.

The draft excitement continued with back-to-back selections of two more South Carolina stars. At No. 19 overall, the Indiana Fever picked guard Bree Hall. Just one pick later, forward Sania Feagin also heard her name called.

Hall’s selection by the Fever stirred excitement—especially from a familiar face. Aliyah Boston, who played 138 career games with Hall at South Carolina, was overjoyed to see her former teammate join her in Indiana. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Boston posted an emotional message:
“BIG BREEZY REUNION I’m literally crying rn”

Bree Hall had a standout career with the Gamecocks, appearing in 146 games over four seasons. She became a starter in her junior year, averaging 9.2 points per game, and was a consistent deep threat, shooting 38.9% from three-point range during the most recent season. The Gamecocks made it all the way to the NCAA Tournament title game, falling just short of the championship.

In Indiana, Hall is set to reunite not only with Boston but also team up with incoming rookie sensation Caitlin Clark. The Fever’s current roster also features Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull, and veteran DeWanna Bonner.

The Indiana Fever will kick off their 2025 preseason on May 3, and open their regular season at home against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
