Commitment: From Utah to South Carolina

Mongolian Mike Takes His Game to the SEC: Mike Sharavjamts Commits to South Carolina

Mike Sharavjamts, widely known as “Mongolian Mike,” is making his next basketball stop in Columbia. The 6-foot-9, 195-pound guard has officially committed to South Carolina, announcing the move through his agency on Monday morning.

Sharavjamts, a seasoned traveler in the transfer portal, brings experience from three previous programs. He launched his college career with the Dayton Flyers in the 2022–23 season, then moved to the San Francisco Dons in 2023–24, and most recently suited up for the Utah Utes during the past year.

Despite all the movement, Sharavjamts has consistently earned starting roles. At Dayton, he appeared in 32 of 34 games, starting 20 as a freshman. The following year at San Francisco, he started all 34 games. This past season with Utah, he logged action in 33 games, earning 29 starts—a steady presence despite a midseason coaching change.

In the 2024–25 season, he averaged 7.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists over 22.2 minutes per game for the Utes.

Now, under the guidance of head coach Lamont Paris, Sharavjamts is set to bring his versatile skill set to the SEC. How he adapts to the heightened competition of the conference remains to be seen—but one thing is clear: “Mongolian Mike” is ready for his next challenge.
