I spent the weekend at the 2025 adidas 3SSB Girls Live Session I in Rock Hill, South Carolina, one of several major events also happening across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, and other states. While not every coach made it to Rock Hill, many tried to hit multiple events.
Here’s a breakdown of standout performances from players that South Carolina is recruiting, along with a few other impressive prospects:
Kaleena Smith, PG, 5-6
2027 HoopGurlz Rank: 1
Team: 7 Days
Kaleena Smith squared off against Kate Harpring in a thrilling Day 1 matchup, and both put on a show. Though Smith’s listed 5-6 frame might be a bit generous, she uses her size to her advantage — slipping under and around defenders with ease. Smith showcased a quick, accurate shot off screens and dazzled with her footwork.
After scoring 37 points in Friday’s win, Smith shifted gears the rest of the weekend, focusing on team play. She ended the session averaging 22.0 points and 4.8 assists, leading all players in both categories.
Defensively, Smith’s size limits her impact, and she can be easier to contest as a spot-up shooter. Still, her weaknesses are minor. As the writer noted, “I was trying to think of another point guard Smith’s size, and then I remembered Virginia had a pretty good one in the early 1990s.”

Kate Harpring, PG, 5-10
2026 On3 Industry Rank: 2
Team: Southeast All Stars
Despite wearing a bothersome mask for most of the game, Kate Harpring scored 28 points against Smith before ditching the mask in the fourth quarter. While she initially struggled to stay in front of Smith defensively, she excelled as a help defender, shutting down driving lanes.
Harpring, with her ideal size for a guard, also proved she could operate off the ball in college. She impressed with an array of post moves, midrange jumpers, and overall physical play. Harpring finished the weekend averaging 20.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, while shooting 46.2% from three.
Oliviyah Edwards, F, 6-3
2026 On3 Industry Rank: 6
Team: Northwest Greyhounds
Oliviyah Edwards immediately turned heads with her blend of size and athleticism. She opened with 23 points and seven rebounds but cooled slightly to finish averaging 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds.
Despite her physical gifts, Edwards often floated near the free-throw line rather than dominating inside. It’s unclear if that was a coaching strategy, but with her tools, fans are hoping to see a more commanding presence around the basket.

Amari Byles, W, 6-2
2026 On3 Industry Rank: 14
Team: Southwest Select
While her numbers weren’t eye-popping, Amari Byles impressed in other ways. “The most impressive thing about Byles is how engaged she was when she wasn’t playing,” the report noted, highlighting her energy, leadership, and attentiveness from the bench.
Byles showed flashes of offensive promise on Saturday after a rough start and averaged 10.8 points over the weekend. Currently, her defense is ahead of her offense, but there’s plenty of upside to like.
Nation Williams, F, 6-2
2027 HoopGurlz Rank: 14
Team: Utah Lady Prospects
Nation Williams had a rough shooting start Friday — unofficially going “2-a-million,” the writer joked — but rebounded impressively. She averaged 20.0 points and 7.8 rebounds for the weekend, ranking second in both categories.
A ferocious defender and rebounder, Williams’ offensive game is still developing. She shows glimpses of strong passing, midrange shooting, and even three-point range. Though not ideally sized for a post, her potential is sky-high.
Eve Long, P, 6-3
2027 HoopGurlz Rank: 11
Team: Southwest Select
Teammate to Byles, Eve Long impressed with her versatility. At 6-3, she handles the ball well, finishes around the rim, and stuffed the stat sheet — averaging 12.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks.
Despite her high ranking, Long hasn’t yet received a ton of offers from powerhouse programs. Expect that to change after a strong summer showing.
