South Carolina head coach and women’s basketball icon Dawn Staley is stepping back into the spotlight—this time behind the analyst desk. On Wednesday, CBS announced that Staley will be joining its new WNBA Tip Off pregame show as a featured analyst.
The show is set to debut this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS, just ahead of the Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky matchup at 8:00 p.m. Fans will be treated to a must-watch showdown between two former Gamecocks: Aliyah Boston and Kamilla Cardoso.
Future episodes of WNBA Tip Off are scheduled to air on:
- July 12 at 3:00 p.m. ET (Golden State vs. Las Vegas)
- August 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET (Chicago vs. Indiana)
- August 16 at 1:30 p.m. ET (New York vs. Minnesota)
The program will be studio-based rather than on-site at game venues, according to Sports Media Watch.
Joining Staley on the panel are host Sarah Kustok and Renee Montgomery, a former WNBA standout who now serves as VP and co-owner of the Atlanta Dream. With both Staley and Montgomery bringing firsthand WNBA experience, the show promises expert insights and passionate commentary.
Dawn Staley’s WNBA career spanned from 1999 to 2006 with the Charlotte Sting and Houston Comets. She was a six-time All-Star and selected for the 10th and 15th Anniversary Teams. Remarkably, she began coaching at Temple University in 2000 while still an active player.
This isn’t her first venture into broadcasting. Staley previously served as part of NBC’s Olympics coverage team for women’s basketball in Paris 2024, showcasing her deep knowledge and love for the game.
With her sharp basketball mind and championship pedigree, Dawn Staley is sure to bring a compelling edge to WNBA Tip Off.
