Wolves may be forced to play without one of their key attackers when they face Manchester City after the international break, as concerns grow over Hwang Hee-chan’s injury.
The club is anxiously awaiting news on Hwang’s condition after he sustained an ankle injury during South Korea’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Jordan. The 28-year-old forward was forced off the field just 20 minutes into the game and was later seen being wheeled through Seoul airport, casting doubt on his availability for the upcoming Premier League clash.
Hwang, who found the net against City in Wolves’ 5-1 defeat last May, has been a crucial figure for the team, featuring in all but one game this season. However, his attacking contributions have dried up—he is yet to score in eight appearances, despite finishing last season as Wolves’ second-highest Premier League scorer with 12 goals.
Wolves’ struggles are not limited to Hwang’s form. They have endured a poor start to the campaign, failing to win any of their first seven league matches and managing just a single point. This rocky run has put manager Gary O’Neil under increasing pressure, with questions swirling around his future at the club.
Manchester City, though they’ve been dominant, are also dealing with their own injury issues. Kevin De Bruyne has missed six consecutive games with a hamstring problem, but there’s hope he might return in time to face Wolves. Defender Nathan Ake is another concern, having been sidelined with a hamstring injury while on duty with the Netherlands, and his availability for the Molineux fixture remains uncertain.
Oscar Bobb is another City player on the sidelines. The young Norwegian attacker fractured a leg bone in training back in August, requiring surgery and setting his return date for December. Jack Grealish also picked up a knock during England’s training camp ahead of their recent defeat to Greece, but he made a swift return to training, easing some worries in City’s camp.
With just over a week to go before Wolves and City face off, both teams are carefully managing their injury lists in preparation for the clash.
