“Matheus Nunes Reveals His Ultimate Dream at Man City—And Pep Guardiola Will Love It!”

Matheus Nunes has experienced a rollercoaster journey since joining Manchester City, and his ambitions are as high as ever.

After Manchester City splurged £53 million to bring Nunes over from Wolves during the summer transfer window of 2023, the Portuguese midfielder has found his footing, though not as firmly as he might have hoped. In his 36 appearances across all competitions, he has only started 16 games, but he has made his mark by scoring once and providing six assists, showcasing his adaptability by taking on various roles within Pep Guardiola‘s lineup.

Despite clinching his first Premier League trophy last season, Nunes has yet to establish himself as a regular starter. Back in May, reports suggested that Guardiola sees Nunes as a valuable asset and aims to give him more playing time. Now, entering his second season at the Etihad, Nunes has opened up about his ultimate goal with the club.

Nunes Sets His Sights on Champions League Glory

In a recent Q&A video posted on Manchester City’s official YouTube channel, Nunes addressed questions from fans and expressed his most significant aspiration. When asked about his future goals, he stated, “I want to win the Champions League. This is my top one dream.

“City is always fighting for every title; they won it two seasons ago, and this year we’re going to fight for it, of course. And I’m in the best place to do so.”

Guardiola’s Champions League Concerns

Interestingly, Guardiola also shared his thoughts on the Champions League landscape during the recent international break, naming one team he’d prefer to avoid: Barcelona. He admitted, “Probably Barcelona, because the affection I have for them really destroys me.”

As Nunes pointed out, City claimed their first Champions League title in 2023, but they faced a tough exit last season, losing in the quarter-finals to Real Madrid on penalties. This season, the Blues have already made their mark in the group stage, with a 0-0 draw against Inter Milan followed by a convincing 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava.

Nunes’s determination to secure the Champions League title aligns perfectly with the ambitions of both Guardiola and the supporters, who are eager to see Manchester City reclaim European glory. With Nunes eager to make his dreams a reality, fans will be watching closely to see how he and the team fight for that elusive title this season.
