“Is Chelsea’s £106m Star Already Out of Favor? Maresca Reveals the Shocking Reason Behind Fernandez’s Drop from the Lineup!”

Maresca Opens Up on Enzo Fernandez’s Absence from Chelsea’s Starting XI

Enzo Maresca insists he hasn’t lost faith in Enzo Fernandez, despite the Argentine midfielder’s recent absence from Chelsea’s Premier League lineup. The 2022 World Cup winner has yet to fully cement his place in the Blues’ first team, leaving fans divided and coaches grappling with where he fits best.

Since Chelsea splashed out over £100 million to bring Fernandez from Benfica post-World Cup, he’s shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled to find a consistent rhythm. Chelsea’s current coaching staff, like their predecessors, have yet to pinpoint Fernandez’s ideal position, and rumors are swirling of a potential swap deal with Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni.

Fernandez’s Chelsea journey began brightly, with standout performances under former manager Graham Potter. However, last season saw Fernandez battling injury, and under Mauricio Pochettino, he seemed to fade, playing through a hernia issue that affected his performance. Despite the setbacks, Maresca included Fernandez in Chelsea’s leadership group and even handed him the captain’s armband in Reece James’ absence.

Yet Fernandez’s current absence in the Premier League lineup has sparked curiosity. Following Chelsea’s recent loss to Newcastle, Maresca addressed the situation.

“Frustrated with Enzo? I’m frustrated with all of them at times,” Maresca clarified. “Don’t focus solely on Enzo. I still trust him completely. The reason he’s not playing in the league is simply a tactical decision, but my confidence in him remains unshaken.”

Fernandez could find himself back on the bench against Manchester United this weekend. With a packed schedule ahead, he’ll likely get more chances soon, but he’ll need to capitalize on every opportunity to solidify his place.
