“Man City Captain Kyle Walker Mocks Ruben Amorim’s Big Champions League Hopes!”

Kyle Walker Dismisses Ruben Amorim’s United Link Ahead of City’s Champions League Clash

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker isn’t letting the news about Ruben Amorim’s future at Manchester United distract him. As City prepares for a Champions League showdown with Sporting CP on Tuesday, Walker made it clear that Amorim’s imminent move to manage their local rivals is the last thing on their minds.

City will travel to Lisbon to face Sporting, with both teams locked in the battle for a place in the knockout rounds. Both sit on seven points after three group games, among a pack of seven clubs sharing the same points. Sporting has been a force in their domestic league, boasting a flawless record this season, adding another layer of intrigue to the tie.

Adding to the mix, it’s been confirmed that Sporting’s current sporting director, Hugo Viana, will join Manchester City at the end of the season to replace Txiki Begiristain. Meanwhile, Amorim is set to join Manchester United after the November international break. This match will be one of his final appearances for Sporting before making the leap to the Premier League.

Despite all the side stories swirling around, Walker insists that City is solely focused on the three points, regardless of Amorim’s next move. “We’re going there to get the three points. I don’t care if he’s the Manchester United or Sheffield Wednesday manager,” Walker said bluntly. “We’re going there to get three points for City, and then whatever will be for him, that’s his personal problem.”

Walker emphasized the importance of securing points to stay at the top of the group in UEFA’s new Champions League format. “It’s a new format of the Champions League, and we need the points to make sure that we finish near the top to be a top seed for the knockout stages,” he explained. “We take one game at a time, we complete Sporting, come back, rest, recover, then go again.”

With plenty at stake for both sides, Tuesday’s game promises to be a thrilling encounter—but don’t expect City to be fazed by Amorim’s Premier League ambitions.
