Breaking: Alabama Football Strengthens O-Line with Transfer Portal Addition
Live from Tuscaloosa, Alabama football has added a significant piece to its offensive line. Arkel Anugwom, formerly of Ball State, announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Friday, bolstering the roster ahead of the 2025 season.
Anugwom, a towering presence at 6-foot-6 and 325 pounds, started one game at left tackle for Ball State in 2024, playing a total of 101 snaps across four games, as per Pro Football Focus. Though relatively new to football—he only began playing midway through high school after moving from Nigeria to Tennessee—Anugwom’s raw potential and size make him a valuable addition.
While he is expected to start as a depth piece, Alabama’s coaching staff will look to develop him further. With talents like Kadyn Proctor, Elijah Pritchett, and Wilson Formby returning, competition on the offensive line will be fierce.
This commitment marks Alabama’s sixth scholarship player acquisition via the transfer portal since the 2024 season concluded. Anugwom is the second offensive lineman to join the Tide, following Kam Dewberry from Texas A&M. Other additions include:
- Isaiah Horton (WR, Miami)
- Kelby Collins (DL, Florida)
- Nikhai Hill-Green (LB, Colorado)
- Cam Calhoun (CB, Utah)
These moves come as Alabama players continue to explore the transfer portal during the five-day entry window following their season-ending loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
The Crimson Tide will kick off their 2025 campaign on August 30 with a marquee matchup against Florida State.
