LIVE REPORT: Kerby Joseph and Lions Teammates Shine with All-Pro Honors
Despite being snubbed for the Pro Bowl, Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph won’t go unnoticed this season. On Friday, Joseph was named to the Associated Press All-Pro Team, capping off a career-defining year.
Joseph isn’t the only Lion to make the All-Pro cut. He’s joined by tackle Penei Sewell, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, and punter Jack Fox on the First Team. Additionally, punt returner Kalif Raymond and center Frank Ragnow earned spots on the Second Team, showcasing the Lions’ star power across the board.
Kerby Joseph: A Defensive Force
At just 24 years old, Kerby Joseph led the NFL with nine interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He also racked up a career-high 83 tackles and 12 passes defended, earning the title of Pro Football Focus’ top-rated safety for the regular season. While the Pro Bowl may have overlooked him, Joseph’s impact on the Lions’ defense is undeniable.
Penei Sewell: A Dominant Presence
For the second consecutive year, Penei Sewell secured a spot on the All-Pro Team. At just 24, Sewell has become one of the most dominant tackles in the league. In over 600 pass-blocking snaps, Sewell allowed just one sack, while paving the way for a Lions rushing attack that set a team record with 29 rushing touchdowns.
“Sewell is pound-for-pound one of the best athletes in the NFL,” analysts agree, cementing his status as a cornerstone of Detroit’s offensive line.
Amon-Ra St. Brown: Record-Breaking Consistency
Joining Sewell as a back-to-back All-Pro honoree is Amon-Ra St. Brown. The 25-year-old wide receiver delivered another stellar season with 115 receptions, 1,263 yards, and 12 touchdowns. His achievements place him among elite company as only the third player in NFL history to post at least 115 catches and 10 receiving touchdowns in consecutive seasons.
Jack Fox: A Special Teams Superstar
After earning Second Team All-Pro honors as a rookie in 2020, Jack Fox has ascended to the First Team. The 28-year-old punter set an NFL record with a 46.2-yard net punting average, becoming the first punter in league history to average at least 51.0 gross yards and 46.0 net yards per punt in a single season.
Second Team Stars: Kalif Raymond and Frank Ragnow
While Kalif Raymond and Frank Ragnow didn’t make the First Team, their contributions were instrumental in the Lions’ success. Raymond’s explosive punt returns and Ragnow’s leadership in the trenches solidified their places on the All-Pro Second Team.
A Bright Future for the Lions
The Lions’ impressive All-Pro representation reflects a team on the rise. With young stars like Joseph, Sewell, and St. Brown continuing to break records and lead their positions, Detroit’s future looks brighter than ever.
Stay tuned as the Lions aim to build on this momentum heading into next season.
