After the first international break of the season, the Premier League has returned to normal, and defending champions Manchester City continued their winning ways by defeating fellow high-flyers West Ham United 3-1.
The only team still in the league with a perfect record is the City of London, but Tottenham Hotspur is not far behind in the standings after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in extra time.
Liverpool, who defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1, is in third place on the podium.
The Blues were held to a scoreless draw against Bournemouth, just as Chelsea hasn’t yet this season, but Newcastle United picked up their game by defeating Brentford 1-0.

DEFENCE.
Wes Foderingham, the goalkeeper for Sheffield United, put forth incredible efforts, even if they were in vain.
However, his constant time-wasting contributed to Spurs’ historic late comeback.
Alphonse Areola of West Ham was also on the losing end of the score against Man City, but the Frenchman earns our selection for the game’s best goalie after making a whopping 10 saves to keep the Irons in the contest for significant stretches.
Tariq Lamptey’s career has somewhat stagnated recently as a result of a number of factors, including injuries and the play of Roberto De Zerbi’s other right-backs, but the 22-year-old produced a performance worthy of man of the match honors in his team’s historic victory at Old Trafford, setting up Pascal Gross and then providing a second assist for Joao Pedro to complete a fantastic victory.
At Craven Cottage, Fulham made hard work of their narrow victory over early underachievers Luton Town.
They were also grateful for the defensive contributions of stand-in captain Tim Ream, who made three tackles, won four of his five ground duels, and completed 95% of his passes in a composed performance.
Sven Botman, who won three of his five aerial duels, made four clearances, and even created one chance to give Newcastle United a much-needed confidence boost before their Champions League opener, was a major factor in their achievement of the elusive clean sheet when they welcomed Brentford to the North East.
Even though Liverpool won’t be playing in the top division of European football this year, they are making preparations to make their appearance in the Europa League just a one-off, as they prepare to travel to Wolves with 13 points overall. Andy Robertson, a left-back, played a key role in that victory by producing a striker’s finish to put his team ahead, as well as by creating two chances and passing with 92 percent accuracy.
MIDFIELD.
Bernardo Silva led Man City’s response against West Ham after yet another summer of rumors that ended with an unexpected contract extension.
He displayed incredible agility to lift the ball over Areola’s shoulder and into the side of the net before setting up Erling Haaland to complete the play.
When Villa hosted Palace at their West Midlands stadium, a 3-1 comeback victory was also on the menu. Douglas Luiz was the star of the show from the back line, making six tackles, completing four accurate long balls out of four attempts, and of course converting a self-assured penalty low into the goal.
While there was little excitement in the match between Bournemouth and Chelsea, in which neither team was able to score despite their best efforts, Lewis Cook’s contributions cannot be disregarded.
The former England international made five interceptions, three tackles, and completed two successful dribbles during his man-of-the-match performance.
ATTACK.
Inking his name into a few more pages of Premier League history, Mohamed Salah finished Liverpool’s victory over Wolves with two assists.
Had Harvey Elliott’s goal not taken a significant deflection off Hugo Bueno, it very well might have been three. In doing so, the Egyptian wing king joined Cesc Fabregas, Gerard Deulofeu, and Muzzy Izzet as the only players in Premier League history to record an assist in five straight away games.
He also reached 200 top-flight goal contributions for Liverpool in just 223 games.
Regardless of your allegiance to the Tottenham striker Richarlison, who spearheaded an incredible comeback against Sheffield United after a particularly trying week, it was difficult not to feel happy for him.
The Brazilian, who admitted to seeking psychological assistance for off-field issues, was only named to the bench, but he headed in his first home Premier League goal for Spurs as a substitute before assisting Dejan Kulusevski to complete the latest successful comeback in Premier League history.
Finally, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s dream debut for Nottingham Forest against Burnley on Monday night may have left some Chelsea supporters wondering what might have been.
The Englishman not only created three chances but also salvaged a point for the Tricky Trees with a magnificent curling strike from outside the box.
He was duly applauded when his number was up.
