Chelsea is determined to defeat rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United in their pursuit of £70 million-rated defender Ousmane Diomande.
Chelsea is attempting to outpace their Premier League rivals for Ousmane Diomande, according to Football Insider. The Ivory Coast defender is highly regarded on the Blues’ January transfer window shortlist of central defenders, but Newcastle United and Arsenal will be fierce rivals.
Desiring to sign Ousmane Diomande, Chelsea
At least three center backs have arrived for Chelsea in the last 18 months, as the team has added numerous defenders to its roster. Levi Colwill, who had become a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino, also completed his loan at Brighton and returned during the summer.
There are now recurring rumors that they are actively seeking Ousmane Diomande, another one. The star player for Sporting CP is expected to be closely watched by some of his important suitors as he departs for the AFCON to represent Ivory Coast.
Chelsea is keen to sign Diomande before their competitors because they are aware of the competition. Sporting CP will cite the release clause in the contract of the £70 million-rated defender as evidence that they are not particularly eager to sell him.
The Portuguese team might only sell if a team covers the entire asking price, and Chelsea isn’t in a position to do that right now. To raise money, they might be able to sell a few of their own stars, but any deal appears improbable—especially in January.

Arsenal had their eye on Diomande and is eager to spend more time studying him at the AFCON. The Sporting star has been shortlisted by the Gunners, who are eager to sign a center-back in January. They are definitely in the running, despite a report that claimed they had gotten in touch with his family to expedite a move.
Diomande’s agents had also been contacted by Newcastle United, as Eddie Howe was eager to add a new center-back to his lineup. Because neither the Magpies nor the Gunners can afford to pay the £70 million release clause in full at once, these teams may hold important negotiations with Sporting to reach a deal.
Chelsea is currently trying to finalize a possible deal as soon as possible, but they are also limited financially to facilitate a deal of this kind. As a result, Diomande’s transfer to Sporting is unlikely, and the chase for him may continue until the end of the January transfer window.
