Mikel Arteta explains to Emile Smith Rowe how he can reclaim his spot in the Arsenal first team, saying “He will have a big chance.”.

Emile Smith-Rowe has been given the opportunity by Mikel Arteta to justify his inclusion in the starting lineup for Arsenal.

After making only twelve substitute appearances the season before due to an injury-plagued season, Smith-Rowe has yet to start a Premier League game this year.

When Arsenal plays Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, the Englishman appears set to make his first start for the club since May 16, 2022. Arteta has challenged the 23-year-old to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

There are numerous explanations for why he hasn’t kicked off a game. He was out for an extremely long time, the Spaniard claimed.

“In the last two games, he’s played more minutes, and today he’ll have a great opportunity to demonstrate that he can play at this level and be a really important player for us.”.

He needs opportunities and playing time, and we want to give them to him.

Then he must demonstrate his worthiness to play, just like every other player on the field.

During the 2021/22 season, Smith-Rowe made his debut for Arsenal, scoring ten goals in 33 games while doing so.

He later signed a long-term contract with the team and received the jersey number 10.

However, the England international has fallen down the pecking order after missing a lot of action last season due to groin surgery, especially in light of the additions of Fabio Vieira and Kai Havertz.

Chelsea expressed interest in the attacking midfielder during the summer transfer window, but Arteta still thinks the club has big plans for him.

‘No. If the club had thought about letting Smith-Rowe leave the Emirates, Arteta responded, “He needs to be a big part of this team moving forward.”.

A player with that much talent who has passed through our system.

We want to accomplish that.

He now needs the minutes and the opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.’.

On Wednesday, Arsenal will travel to Brentford in an effort to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and secure a spot in the Carabao Cup’s fourth round.
