Chelsea is expected to investigate loan moves for Roberto Firmino and Karim Benzema in an attempt to find a solution to their goal-scoring problems this month.
Chelsea is considering their options in attack as a result of Christopher Nkunku’s recent hip injury, which has kept him out of the game for the first half of the season. The Blues have struggled to score goals this season once again.
Victor Osimhen of Napoli is one of the top targets for a new striker signing in 2024; however, the Nigerian international is anticipated to cost too much this month, forcing Chelsea to look at other options.
Given that several media outlets have recently predicted that both Benzema and Firmino will depart the Middle East and return to Europe, Chelsea may want to consider Saudi Arabia.
According to Marca, after being given time off and joining Al Ittihad this summer when his Real Madrid contract expired, Benzema has not returned to training, and manager Marcelo Gallardo has since kicked him out of the first team.
According to reports, Benzema skipped more practise sessions at the end of the previous year, which left his future with the Saudi team in doubt.
Benzema has had a steady start to life with Al Ittihad, racking up 12 goals in 20 appearances but falling well short of the standards he set during his final years with Madrid. With 31 goals in all competitions last season, the 36-year-old was one of Europe’s best scorers.
For Chelsea, who are also expected to look to Firmino for a solution, such firepower would be invaluable.
Firmino, who lost his starting spot for Al Ahli, is amenable to going back to the Premier League. After moving to Saudi Arabia, the former forward for Liverpool has only scored three goals in 19 appearances.
