Treble Hero’s Verdict: Will Grealish Become a Red Devil?

Jack Grealish’s Career Slammed: “He Wouldn’t Even Make Manchester United’s XI,” Claims Dwight Yorke

Manchester City star Jack Grealish has faced harsh criticism from former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke, who claims the 28-year-old wouldn’t secure a spot in United’s lineup based on his current form.

The England international has struggled to cement a regular place in Pep Guardiola’s City squad, which led to his exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 roster. Grealish had to watch the Three Lions’ journey to the final from the sidelines.

Despite his determination to stay at the Etihad Stadium and fight for his position, rumors suggest City might offload the former Aston Villa player, with Manchester United reportedly interested in his services.

However, Yorke believes Grealish’s recent performances do not warrant a move to United. He compared Grealish’s decline to that of Marcus Rashford, noting both players’ significant drop in form despite their immense potential and hefty salaries.

“Jack Grealish to Manchester United? Based on his current form, he wouldn’t get into United’s team,” said Yorke, speaking to Boyle Sports, which offers Premier League betting. “He’s similar to Rashford in that both are highly paid and have great potential, but their drop-offs have been significant.”

Yorke added, “Everyone goes through phases where they’re not at their best, but the decline we’ve seen in both players suggests there’s something off. Whether it’s a lack of focus or another issue, only they can answer that.”

Since his £100million transfer from Villa Park, Grealish has struggled to replicate the form that made him one of the most sought-after talents in English football. Scoring only 14 goals over three seasons at City, he’s often been benched in favor of players like Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva.

Grealish’s transition from being the main man at Villa to a rotational player at City has impacted his value. Despite winning titles with City, Yorke hopes Grealish is not on United’s wishlist.

“They have ability in abundance, that’s why Grealish was worth a hundred million. That’s why Rashford is put into that bracket because he has all the attributes to be that type of player. What we have seen is the drop-off. There must be something within there that is not correct, that is for United and City to work out.”
