Manchester City’s New Signing Savinho Sets Sights on Community Shield Debut
Manchester City’s new forward, Savinho, has outlined his goals for the upcoming season during his official unveiling. The Brazilian winger is eager to make an impact at his new club, with hopes of playing at Wembley next week.
Savinho, City’s sole acquisition of the summer transfer window, joined from fellow City Football Group club Troyes for an initial fee of £21 million, potentially rising to £33.6 million. After representing Brazil in the Copa America, where his team reached the quarter-finals, the 22-year-old was granted a rest period, missing City’s pre-season tour.
Savinho is set to return to training in Manchester on Monday, alongside City players who participated in the Euros. He will reunite with Pep Guardiola and the squad that toured the United States. By the week’s end, he aims to secure a spot in the squad for the upcoming Community Shield clash against Manchester United.
“I hope to play, of course. All players need to be wanting, hoping, and ready to play,” Savinho expressed at his unveiling. “Monday will be one week from the Community Shield, so I need to work hard to have the opportunity to play against Manchester United.”
Savinho conveyed his excitement and gratitude, stating, “I’m really happy and honored, and I can’t wait. I’m really looking forward to training. I thank God for the opportunity to have brought me here. I’m grateful to everyone at Manchester City for signing me, putting their trust and faith in me, and allowing me to be a part of this huge club.”
With a clear focus on making his debut, Savinho added, “I’m really looking forward to this opportunity and I can’t wait to start training and make my debut for the team.”
As the new season approaches, Savinho’s enthusiasm and dedication could see him quickly become a key player for Manchester City.
