Is Alvarez Out? City Boss Sends Shock Message!

Atletico Madrid Set Sights on Julian Alvarez: Guardiola’s Firm Response

Julian Alvarez is on Atletico Madrid’s radar, with the Spanish club initiating discussions with Manchester City on Saturday regarding the forward’s potential transfer.

Pep Guardiola, however, remains resolute in his desire to keep Alvarez as part of Manchester City’s squad for the upcoming season, despite the interest from Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid reached out to City following the conclusion of Alvarez’s Olympic campaign on Friday. Alvarez, previously left out of significant games last season, hinted he might reconsider his future. Guardiola responded directly to Alvarez’s comments, while Alvarez attempted to downplay the situation without firmly stating his intention to stay at City. Atletico must meet City’s valuation to proceed with the transfer.

Guardiola did not provide an update on Alvarez’s transfer status after City’s friendly win over Chelsea but made it clear he plans for Alvarez to be involved in the new season.

“He’s absolutely our player. He will come back. I count on him,” Guardiola asserted. “He mentioned in the news that decisions will be made collectively. Now he has to rest, and when he’s ready, he’ll return.

“When he comes back, I’ll be there to hug and congratulate him for the Copa America and the Olympics, and then we’ll start working together. That’s the reality.

“In the meantime, I have a million things to think about regarding the team, ensuring we’re ready. We have our first trophy match next week and then the Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge in two weeks. That’s my primary focus.”

Addressing queries about the younger players in his squad, Guardiola stated he does not foresee more signings this transfer window, emphasizing his satisfaction with the current squad depth.

“We don’t need it; we have enough depth,” he said. “I’m not someone who likes having too many players in the squad.”

With these clear statements, Guardiola has set the stage for Alvarez’s potential role in the upcoming season while leaving the door open for Atletico Madrid if they meet City’s demands.
