Manchester City have largely wrapped up their transfer business ahead of the deadline, but a few more deals might still materialize.
City are expected to have a quiet transfer deadline day, which aligns with their preference. Despite the £64 million departure of Julian Alvarez and a four-month injury to Oscar Bobb, City is unlikely to pursue any last-minute striking options before Friday’s 11 p.m. deadline. Although they were linked with Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi and FC Copenhagen’s Orri Oskarsson, interest in both players seems to have faded. In fact, Copenhagen has received an offer for Oskarsson from an unnamed Spanish club, and discussions are ongoing.
On Thursday, West Ham academy striker Divin Mubama announced his own signing on social media. However, the £2 million addition is expected to start his City career with the under-21 squad, rather than immediately joining Pep Guardiola’s first team. Consequently, City’s deadline day focus will likely be on outgoings.
This week, Joao Cancelo completed a permanent move to Al Hilal, bringing City’s summer spending to approximately £145 million. Meanwhile, defender Issa Kabore was nearing a season-long loan to Benfica, a deal that might still be finalized. The loan would not include an option or obligation to buy, though the Burkina Faso international has also attracted interest from Augsburg, Venezia, Stade Reims, and Werder Bremen.
Academy winger Joel Ndala is drawing attention from Ajax, AC Milan, and PSV Eindhoven, and could leave permanently before the window closes, though time is running out. Ndala has not appeared for the Elite Development Squad this season, despite playing for City’s first team during pre-season in the USA.
Josh Wilson-Esbrand might also be loaned out before the deadline after participating in the pre-season tour. He has previously been loaned to Coventry, Cardiff, and Stade Reims over the past two seasons.
There were rumors earlier this week of a potential loan move for first-team midfielder Matheus Nunes to Atletico Madrid, but those links have cooled, and it seems likely that the Portuguese international will remain with City for the season.
