Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly pushing his Al-Nassr club to make a high-stakes move for Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, whose contract ends next summer. The Manchester City star has spent nearly a decade at the Etihad, establishing himself as one of the top attacking midfielders in the world. With six Premier League titles, a Champions League victory, and numerous other trophies under his belt, De Bruyne’s contribution to City has been monumental, including 103 goals and 171 assists in 388 appearances.
Despite De Bruyne being settled in Manchester, his future is still up in the air as he turns 34 next summer. With this in mind, Ronaldo has reportedly encouraged Al-Nassr’s board to offer De Bruyne a lucrative deal to join the Saudi Pro League, according to The Sun. The Belgian playmaker was discreetly approached last year, though he expressed no desire to leave City. However, the reported £1 million-a-week salary and £50 million signing-on bonus could be tempting.
Though City intends to discuss his future when the timing is right, they are aware they cannot match the staggering financial offers from Saudi Arabia. As De Bruyne mentioned in August: “I haven’t spoken to anyone, to be honest. There has been a lot of noises and news. I’ve not been entertained by anybody or spoken to anybody.”
The transfer speculation continues, but it remains to be seen if De Bruyne can resist such a lucrative offer.
