While Erling Haaland may be a goal-scoring machine, using his speed, power, and sharp instincts to dominate defenders, Bernardo Silva thinks another Manchester City teammate would be far more dangerous in a fistfight.
During a lighthearted interview with Pro:Direct Soccer alongside Twitch star and Manchester United fan Angry Ginge, Silva was quizzed on his Man City teammates. He named Phil Foden as the most skillful, Kyle Walker as the fastest, and John Stones as the sharpest dresser. But when the question turned to “who’s the toughest in a fight?” Silva’s answer wasn’t the towering Haaland.
“For me, it’s a mix of strength and craziness, so I’m going with Ederson,” said Silva, holding up a board with the Brazilian goalkeeper’s name. Angry Ginge, on the other hand, picked Haaland, reasoning: “He is massive.” Silva nodded but stood by his choice, adding, “Yeah, but Ederson is crazy and strong too. I definitely wouldn’t want to fight Ederson.”
The interview continued with Silva giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the City squad, sharing that Jack Grealish takes the crown for spending the longest time in the shower. While praising Grealish for having the best music taste and being the squad’s funniest, Silva couldn’t help but mention his teammate’s attention to grooming. “Jack spends a lot of time – a LOT of time – taking care of himself,” Silva joked.
Beyond the banter, Silva also shed some light on life at City under Pep Guardiola’s leadership. The team typically trains for an hour and a half in the mornings, starting at 11 a.m., and usually finishes by around 12:30 p.m. Silva revealed that Guardiola is fairly generous with days off, although the tight schedule doesn’t always allow for much rest. “We usually get one day off a week,” Silva explained. “It’s not much, but we take it.”
Despite the relatively short training sessions, Silva pointed out that Guardiola’s methods have clearly paid off, with City dominating English football under his reign. The team has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a UEFA Champions League, with no signs of slowing down.
As for the current season, Manchester City sits second in the Premier League standings after eight games, with six wins and two draws. They trail Liverpool by just a single point, keeping the pressure on in yet another thrilling title race.
While Jack Grealish might take his time getting ready, he’s always ready to celebrate, as seen when he joined John Stones to mark City’s dramatic last-minute winner against Wolves. The camaraderie and work ethic in Guardiola’s squad seem to be a perfect recipe for continued success.
