Bernardo Silva, the Manchester City midfielder, shared his thoughts on Ruben Amorim, the Sporting CP coach who is set to take over at Manchester United.
Silva, while acknowledging his connections to Sporting CP through family and friends, expressed that he cannot wholeheartedly wish Amorim success in his new role but recognizes that Manchester United is acquiring an exceptional coach.
Having played for Benfica‘s academy, Silva noted that Amorim has transformed Sporting into a formidable force. He reflected on his own experience, having scored twice in a 5-0 victory at the same venue two years ago, but anticipates a much greater challenge for City in their upcoming match against a Sporting side that boasts a perfect record in their league.
“Before he arrived, Sporting hadn’t won the league in nearly 20 years, but since then, under his leadership, it seems everyone has aligned with the same vision,” Silva stated. “When a club has a competent president and sporting director who share a common goal, the likelihood of success increases significantly.”
He further praised Amorim’s tactical acumen, saying, “You can see that he prepares his teams very well. Sporting is a well-oiled machine at the moment. I have nothing but admiration for them as they are excelling in the Portuguese league. It’s going to be extremely challenging to defeat them.”
