Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly keeping a close watch on Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan as a potential midfield addition. However, Milan remains optimistic that they can secure Reijnders on a renewed contract, despite City’s growing interest. Niccolò Ceccarini of TMW notes that Milan acquired Reijnders for around €20 million from AZ Alkmaar as a successor to Sandro Tonali, with the investment appearing increasingly valuable.
Reijnders, who has been effective alongside Youssouf Fofana at Milan, has showcased his creative abilities. His performances have also impressed on the international stage, where Ronald Koeman now views him as a staple in the Netherlands lineup. This growing reputation has attracted attention from major clubs, including Manchester City, particularly as the club assesses options following Rodri’s injury. Guardiola reportedly sees Reijnders as a strong fit to maintain City’s midfield quality, though no formal steps have been taken by the club yet.
Milan is banking on Reijnders’ contentment with the Rossoneri to retain him. The 26-year-old is reportedly “very happy” with the club and doesn’t intend to move. Talks are underway for an extension that could keep him at Milan until 2030, with improved terms. Meanwhile, Manchester City is also monitoring Samuele Ricci of Torino and Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad as other potential signings should Reijnders remain in Milan.
