Man City Superfan Wins £120,000 Lottery and Makes Heartwarming Pledge for His Family
Dan Cole, a devoted Manchester City fan and father-of-one from Stockport, is celebrating an incredible win of £10,000 a month for a year through The National Lottery’s Set For Life. The 32-year-old plans to use the £120,000 prize to transform his family’s life, including taking them on their first-ever holiday and creating a dream play area for his young daughter.
Building Memories and a Dream Home
Dan, who works as a manager at a kitchen company, shared his excitement about using the winnings to renovate his home and treat his family to an unforgettable year.
“We bought our first house together a couple of years ago and are still working on the renovations to turn it into our dream home,” he said. “We’ve been saving up to give the bathroom a makeover and set up a play area in the garden for our little girl, so it feels great knowing we can afford to do that now.”
The family is also planning their first-ever holiday together. “We’ve never been on a family holiday, and we want to see the world. Now that we have our win to enjoy, we’ll certainly be ticking off our wish list of places to visit,” Dan said. He dreams of traveling to America, while his partner is keen to explore Europe.
Football Dreams Come True
A lifelong Manchester City supporter, Dan is also excited to attend more away games with his beloved club.
“I’m a huge Man City fan and come from a long line of supporters. I already have a season ticket, but now I’m looking forward to fitting in a few away games thanks to this win,” he said.
The Life-Changing Moment
Dan recalled the moment he discovered his big win during a lunch break, describing the shock and disbelief he felt.
“When I checked my messages, I thought, ‘This can’t be right!’ and rechecked everything again and again. I called The National Lottery claim line straight away to confirm it because it didn’t seem real,” he shared.
Dan chose to keep the news a secret until he could tell his partner in person after work. “Waiting to tell her was so difficult, but I’m glad I did because that feeling of telling her face-to-face was the best ever,” he added.
Sharing the Joy
After informing his family, Dan revealed the news to his colleagues. “When I told everyone at work, they all looked at me like I was mad! I like to play the odd joke, so they didn’t believe me at first. I even had to prove I’d actually won, and now they’ve all started playing too!”
Dan usually opts for Lucky Dip numbers when playing the lottery, believing it increases his chances. “People tend to pick numbers based on birthdays and anniversaries, so they miss out on numbers over 30 or 31,” he explained.
A Bright Future Ahead
Dan won the second-tier prize in October, earning £10,000 monthly for a year. The top prize for Set For Life offers £10,000 a month for 30 years, but Dan is still thrilled about how his winnings will transform his family’s life.
With renovations underway, holiday plans brewing, and dreams of more football adventures, Dan’s win is set to bring joy and cherished memories to his family for years to come. “It just proves that it really can happen to anyone!” he concluded.
