SHOCKING: Haaland’s record since he told Mikel Arteta to ‘stay humble’

Erling Haaland Struggles as Manchester City’s Form Dips Following Arsenal Showdown

Manchester City star Erling Haaland is enduring a slump in form by his usual high standards, coinciding with the club’s recent struggles. Since City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in September, where Haaland scored and famously told Mikel Arteta to “stay humble,” the Norwegian striker has managed just two Premier League goals.

This drop-off comes after a blistering start to the season that saw him net ten goals in his first six league games. However, Haaland’s form has faltered, with his recent tally standing at five goals in 11 matches across all competitions. This dip has mirrored City’s own loss of confidence, capped by a 4-0 thrashing by Tottenham—the fifth consecutive defeat for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Arsenal Clash Haunts Haaland

Arsenal fans might savor Haaland’s struggles, especially after his heated exchange with Gabriel Jesus and his pointed words to Arteta in September. While Haaland still leads the Premier League scoring charts with 12 goals, his inability to find the back of the net consistently since then has been glaring.

His recent outing against Tottenham showcased his frustration. Despite having seven shots, with four off target and another rattling the crossbar, Haaland failed to score. He also lost five duels during the match, underscoring his struggle to impose himself.

Haaland Addresses City’s Woes

Ahead of the Spurs match, Haaland opened up about City’s current predicament. Speaking to Sky Sports, he admitted:
“It’s not normal in a club like this. It hurts, it clearly does. The motivation is bigger than ever to go on Saturday and to win the game and to get on the run again.”

When asked if the team’s poor form has affected him personally, Haaland remained resolute:
“I think it’s important to just let it go. It’s the most difficult thing, even in life, to let things go and be sad and everything. If I’m going to start thinking about the last four games, that’s not a good thing. And that’s exactly what I didn’t do.”

Instead, Haaland emphasized the need to focus on the present:
“It’s about restarting, it’s about looking at what’s next, it’s about staying in the present moment and to look what’s ahead.”

A Race Against Time

While Haaland’s early-season heroics still place him at the top of the Golden Boot race, City will need their talisman firing on all cylinders if they are to recover from this unprecedented slump. Both Haaland and his team will need to dig deep to find the form and confidence that made them the dominant force of recent seasons.
