“Boos Echo at the Etihad as Manchester City Choke Away Three-Goal Lead!”

Manchester City Booed Off After Stunning Collapse Against Feyenoord

Manchester City players faced boos from their own fans after blowing a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in the Champions League. The dramatic collapse extended City’s winless streak to six games, leaving the Etihad Stadium crowd visibly frustrated.

Fans Show Their Displeasure

Jeers echoed around the stadium at full-time as City’s players trudged off the pitch. Addressing the fans’ reaction, Pep Guardiola said, “They are disappointed. Of course, we understand it. They are completely right to express what they feel.”

A Promising Start Ends in Chaos

City appeared to have ended their poor run after racing to a 3-0 lead by the 50th minute, with Erling Haaland netting twice and Ilkay Gundogan scoring a deflected volley. However, Feyenoord staged a remarkable comeback, scoring through Anis Hadj Moussa (75th minute), Santiago Gimenez (82nd minute), and David Hancko (89th minute).

According to Opta, this is the first time in Guardiola’s career that his team has failed to win after leading 3-0. It’s also the first time since 1989 that City has squandered such a commanding lead.

“We lost a lot of games lately, we are fragile, and of course, we need a victory,” Guardiola admitted. “The game was good for confidence; we were playing at a good level, but the first time something happened, we had problems.”

Players and Fans Stunned

Visibly frustrated City players, including Bernardo Silva, Josko Gvardiol, and Erling Haaland, left the field amidst celebrations from the traveling Feyenoord fans. Nathan Ake reflected on the team’s woes, saying, “If you are 3-0 up at home, you can never give it away like this. It is what it is at the moment. The only thing we can do is fight back and stay strong.”

The Road Ahead

The draw leaves City in 15th place in the Champions League standings, far from the top eight spots required to advance to the round of 16. With three group-stage games remaining, Guardiola acknowledged the challenges ahead: “We will learn for the future. It has been and will be a tough season for us, and we have to accept it.”

City now prepare for a critical clash against Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday. A loss could leave Guardiola’s side 11 points behind their title rivals.

Guardiola, who was seen with a cut on his nose during the match, dismissed any drama around the injury, explaining that it was caused by accidentally scratching himself.
