NASCAR Fans: Last Chance to Grab Previous Racing Games Before They’re Gone!
A new chapter in NASCAR gaming begins in 2025, but fans of the sport’s virtual racing history should act fast to secure older titles before they disappear. Motorsport Games, the outgoing holder of the NASCAR gaming license, has announced that all its NASCAR titles and associated DLC will be removed from digital storefronts on December 31, 2024.
Games Affected and Limited-Time Sale
Titles like NASCAR Heat, NASCAR Rivals, and NASCAR: Ignition are included in the delisting. However, before they’re pulled, these games will go on sale, giving fans one last chance to purchase them at discounted prices. While the games and their physical disc versions will remain playable after January 1, 2025, they will no longer be available for digital purchase.
A Legacy of NASCAR Gaming
The history of NASCAR video games stretches back to 1991 with the release of Bill Elliott’s NASCAR Challenge. Over the years, several publishers have held the NASCAR gaming license, offering fans unique experiences across different platforms.
Starting in 2025, iRacing, the new rights holder, will take the wheel. The company has announced plans to launch NASCAR ’25, a fresh addition to the franchise, available on all major consoles and PC in Fall 2025.
NASCAR’s Real-Life Connection to Gaming
NASCAR games have long been a source of inspiration for fans and drivers alike. In one notable instance, Ross Chastain credited the 2005 NASCAR game for his daring wall-ride move at Martinsville in 2022—a moment that stunned the racing world. Though the maneuver was later banned due to safety concerns, it highlighted the influence of gaming on real-life racing strategies.
This transition marks the end of an era for Motorsport Games and paves the way for iRacing to redefine the NASCAR gaming experience in 2025. Racing enthusiasts should seize this opportunity to own a piece of NASCAR’s gaming legacy while it’s still available.
