“Trent Alexander-Arnold Reveals Why Liverpool Still Fear a Resurgent Man City Under Pep Guardiola”

Trent Alexander-Arnold Warns Rivals: “Never Rule Out Man City in the Title Race”

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has cautioned against dismissing Manchester City from the Premier League title race, despite their current struggles. The Reds’ convincing 2-0 victory over City at Anfield earlier this month, with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, highlighted Liverpool’s dominance, but Alexander-Arnold believes City remain a formidable threat.

Liverpool’s Statement Wins

The win against City followed another impressive 2-0 triumph over Real Madrid in the Champions League, solidifying Liverpool’s status as serious contenders both domestically and in Europe. Reflecting on those performances, Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports:
“Yeah, especially the two games against Real Madrid and Manchester City. Of course, they’re not easy, but when you’re able to make it look that way, it just shows the quality of the players and the team and the understanding that we’ve got.”

He emphasized the importance of consistency, saying:
“The hardest thing in football is consistency. We’re still not halfway through the season, so there’s a long, long way to go. I think that was just a statement week for the team, for the club.”

City’s Late-Season Threat

Despite being eight points behind Liverpool at the top of the table, Alexander-Arnold warned against underestimating Pep Guardiola’s side, especially in the second half of the season. He suggested that City’s ability to find form after Christmas could be decisive.

“I’ve always said that if you’ve ever got a chance to beat City, it’s always before Christmas,” he explained.
“Once they hit their stride, once it clicks around the New Year, they’ll go five months without losing a game, and they might draw one or two. But they’ll just win and carry on winning.”

Liverpool Staying Vigilant

Alexander-Arnold believes City could still mount a title challenge, adding:
“You can never rule them out, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re back in the title race come the end of the season.”

A Rivalry Reignited

With Liverpool’s recent dominance over both Real Madrid and Manchester City, Alexander-Arnold sees this season as a turning point for his side.
“To beat them both in the space of a few days was something that really sent a statement to everyone that we’re a real team,” he said.

As Liverpool sit at the summit, their eyes remain firmly on the prize, but Alexander-Arnold’s words serve as a reminder that Manchester City could yet rewrite the script.
