Gamecocks Land Major Recruit: Donovan Murph Commits, Boosting Already Elite WR Class!

In a major win for South Carolina, four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph has officially committed to the Gamecocks. Murph, hailing from Irmo, South Carolina, made his decision during the Under Armour All-America game on Thursday, choosing South Carolina over top programs like Clemson, Colorado, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 190 pounds, Murph was initially part of the 2026 recruiting class but reclassified to the 2025 class. His decision came after taking official visits to both South Carolina and Clemson, but ultimately, it was the Gamecocks’ culture that won him over.

In an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, Murph shared why he felt South Carolina was the right choice for him: “Everybody shows me love. The whole staff shows me love. It’s not just one coach.” He emphasized his strong relationships with key figures such as wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach Mike Shula, head coach Shane Beamer, coach Gray, and coach Lucas, calling it a “family” atmosphere and trusting the honesty of the staff.

The Gamecocks football program was quick to welcome Murph, sharing their excitement on social media with the post, “Welcome home, @donovan_murph!!” This commitment adds another highly talented wide receiver to South Carolina’s impressive 2025 recruiting class, further strengthening Shane Beamer’s squad.

Murph, the No. 155 overall player in the 2025 class, joins a group of wide receivers that will be crucial in the Gamecocks’ future success. Despite not being listed among his finalists, Alabama remained a factor in his recruitment, but it was South Carolina’s family-like culture that secured his commitment.

With this significant addition, the Gamecocks’ 2025 recruiting class is looking stronger than ever. Big win for Beamer and South Carolina as they continue to build a future filled with talent!
