LIVE UPDATE: LT Overton Announces Return to Alabama for 2025 Season
LT Overton, a standout defensive lineman for the Alabama Crimson Tide, announced on Wednesday that he will return for the 2025 season, bypassing an opportunity to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
Overton, a vital part of Alabama’s defensive line, shared his decision in a heartfelt statement emphasizing leadership and unfinished business:
“The journey towards success that has been paved at Alabama by the guys before me is not over,” Overton wrote. “I am excited to take on challenges, and I am always looking to provide leadership. I am committed to working hard to achieve the goals that I share with my teammates … As the late Kobe Bryant would say — job’s not finished!”
Overton’s Impact in 2024
Overton transferred to Alabama from Texas A&M ahead of the 2024 season and made an immediate impact. His stats from this past season include:
- 42 tackles
- 3 tackles for loss
- 2 sacks
Additionally, Overton led all Alabama defensive linemen with 503 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). He was graded as the Tide’s second-best edge rusher for the season.
A Leader for the Future
Overton’s return is a significant boost for Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama program, which finished 9-4 in the head coach’s first year. The Crimson Tide are looking to bounce back in 2025, and Overton’s leadership and skillset will play a critical role in that effort.
With Overton anchoring the defensive line, Alabama fans have reason to be optimistic about what the future holds under DeBoer’s leadership. As Overton said, “Job’s not finished!”
