“Former Alabama Star’s NFL Season Cut Short Right Before Finale, What happened?”

Live Feed: Former Alabama Players Hit Injured Reserve, Ending NFL Seasons Early

Two former Alabama Crimson Tide standouts, Jerome Ford and Jalyn Armour-Davis, have had their NFL seasons cut short as both players were placed on injured reserve Friday.

Jerome Ford Out for Cleveland Browns Finale

The Cleveland Browns will wrap up their season against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday but will do so without running back Jerome Ford. Ford, who stepped up during Nick Chubb’s injury absences this season, sustained an ankle injury in the Browns’ 20-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins last Saturday.

Ford had been a key contributor, starting six games this season, including the last two. His season ends with impressive numbers:

  • 565 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 104 carries
  • 225 receiving yards on 37 receptions
  • A 25.9-yard average on 15 kickoff returns

Ford’s absence will leave a noticeable gap in Cleveland’s offense as they prepare for their season finale.

Jalyn Armour-Davis Sidelined for Baltimore Ravens

For the Baltimore Ravens, cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis also finds his season ending on injured reserve. The former St. Paul’s Episcopal standout has been plagued by hamstring injuries throughout the year.

Armour-Davis initially landed on IR after playing in Baltimore’s first three games. He returned for four more games but re-injured his hamstring during warmups before the Ravens’ matchup against the New York Giants on Dec. 15. He has since missed two consecutive games.

In his third NFL season, Armour-Davis played in seven games, starting two. His repeated injuries have been a setback for a Ravens team gearing up for the playoffs.

Roster Adjustments Ahead of Browns-Ravens Clash

To fill the void left by Ford, the Browns promoted Chris Edmonds, a former Samford defensive back, from their practice squad to the active roster. Edmonds will be eligible to play on Saturday against the Ravens.

Edmonds has limited NFL experience, having played in one regular-season game this year. He was elevated for Cleveland’s Oct. 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, contributing 10 special-teams plays in a 20-16 loss.

As the Browns and Ravens prepare for their season finale, the absence of these two Alabama alums underscores the physical toll of the NFL season. While both teams make adjustments, fans will be keeping an eye on their playoff prospects and long-term recovery.
