Live Feed: Kentucky Triumphs Over Florida in Rupp Arena Thriller
In a high-octane showdown at Rupp Arena, the No. 10 Kentucky Wildcats secured a stunning 106-100 victory over previously undefeated No. 6 Florida, handing the Gators their first loss of the season. The game featured incredible runs, clutch performances, and a team display of resilience that electrified Big Blue Nation.
After the game, Kentucky head coach Mark Pope reflected on the win, noting the importance of team chemistry. “This is gonna sound soft,” Pope warned before crediting his team’s bond. Two days prior, the Wildcats surprised injured teammate Kerr Kriisa with a heartfelt celebration for his 24th birthday. Despite being sidelined with a foot injury and still needing crutches, Kriisa was ambushed by his teammates with a surprise party that left him laughing.
“They all snuck into his apartment — like little kids — to surprise him,” Pope said. “I actually think those runs come from a group like that. I really do. These guys are working so hard to be together.”
Turning Points: Big Runs and Key Players
The Wildcats’ victory was marked by three game-changing runs. The first, a 16-0 stretch, turned an 11-point deficit into a 31-26 lead. It was the spark Kentucky needed to gain control of the game.
“Well, to have the first run you need Otega Oweh,” Pope said. The junior guard, who has now scored in double figures in all 14 of his games this season, was the catalyst. Oweh delivered an and-one finish, a putback dunk, and a 3-pointer during the run, sending the Rupp crowd into a frenzy.
“Otega’s first rotation was a little shorter than normal,” Pope revealed. “But he came back in and refused to let anything affect his intensity. He told the team, ‘Relax. I’ll find the rhythm for you.’”
Later in the first half, with the game tied at 40, Kentucky unleashed another 10-0 run. Jaxson Robinson started it with a 3-pointer and a jumper, followed by Lamont Butler stealing the ball from Florida’s star Walter Clayton Jr. and converting an and-one. The crowd roared as Butler completed the play with a free throw and a stepback jumper to cap the run.
Florida coach Todd Golden praised Kentucky’s resolve: “I thought they did a great job taking advantage of the moment.”

Koby Brea’s Magic Behind the Arc
While Florida tried to claw back late, Koby Brea ensured the Wildcats stayed on top with a career-best performance. Brea knocked down seven 3-pointers, each at pivotal moments, and finished with a team-high 23 points.
“He was magical tonight, wasn’t he?” Pope said. “You’re hard-pressed to argue he’s not the best shooter in the country. The way he shoots it, how he gets it off — it’s ridiculous.”
Brea’s sharpshooting came against one of the nation’s best perimeter defenses. Florida, which had allowed opponents to shoot just 26.6% from deep this season, couldn’t contain the Wildcats, who went 14-for-29 from three-point range.
Brea’s performance held personal significance as well. “It was my little brother Tyler’s 9th birthday,” he shared, adding that Tyler, watching from New York, inspires him. “He loves basketball, and every time I go home, he shows me a new move.”
Team Effort Secures the Win
Brea wasn’t alone in Kentucky’s collective success. Lamont Butler contributed 19 points and a career-high eight assists. Otega Oweh added 16 points, while Amari Williams (15), Jaxson Robinson (14), and Andrew Carr (14) also scored in double figures. Key 3-pointers from Carr and Butler late in the game sealed the victory.
“That Carr 3 was huge,” Golden admitted. “It iced it for them.”
Pope was especially proud of the team’s ball movement, highlighting their 25 assists against one of the toughest defenses in college basketball. “We’re learning how fun this is,” Pope said. “We only get to do this 17 more times in the regular season, so we can’t waste a minute.”
Looking Ahead
With the Wildcats now 12-2, this win serves as a statement of their potential in the SEC. As Pope emphasized, the team’s chemistry, resilience, and growth will be key moving forward.
“BBN, don’t miss a second of this,” Pope said. “There’ll be great times and hard times, but they’ll all be growing times.”
For now, Kentucky fans can relish a thrilling win over a top-ranked rival, setting the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable season.
