Texas Adds Ohio State’s LaAllan Clark as New Outside Linebackers Coach
AUSTIN, TX – LaAllan Clark is packing his bags for The Lone Star State.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Texas is bringing in the Ohio State graduate assistant to take over as the Longhorns’ next outside linebackers coach. While the school has yet to make an official announcement, Clark all but confirmed the move himself in a social media post thanking Ohio State for his time in Columbus.
Clark’s Coaching Journey
Clark has spent the past two seasons as a defensive line graduate assistant for the Buckeyes. Before that, he built his coaching résumé at Prairie View A&M and Southern, working with top-tier NFL talent along the way. His experience training elite defensive linemen includes big names like:
- Ed Oliver (Buffalo Bills)
- Jeffrey Simmons (Tennessee Titans)
- Danielle Hunter (Minnesota Vikings)
Before transitioning to coaching, Clark played college football at Grambling State and Northwestern State.
What This Means for Texas
At Texas, Clark will have the chance to work with some of the most talented young defenders in the country, including:
- Trey Moore
- Ethan Burke
- Colin Simmons – who recently won the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, edging out Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith
While Clark won’t be the primary coach for Texas’ defensive tackles, he will still have a familiar face joining him in Austin: former Ohio State DT Hero Kanu, who transferred to Texas last week after three seasons in Columbus.
Another Coaching Departure for Ohio State
Clark’s move to Texas marks the sixth departure from Ohio State’s coaching staff this offseason. Others who have left include:
- Mike Sollenne (Graduate Assistant)
- Riley Larkin (Offensive Assistant)
- Jim Knowles (Defensive Coordinator)
- Justin Frye (Offensive Line Coach)
- Chip Kelly (Offensive Coordinator)
Final Thought
With Clark now heading to Austin, Texas continues to build a defensive staff loaded with experience and connections to elite talent. His ability to develop top-tier pass rushers could be a major boost for the Longhorns’ defensive front in 2025.
