South Carolina Lands Speedy WR Jackson Repp in Unique Commitment Deal
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Jackson Repp, a dynamic wide receiver out of Christ Church, has officially committed to South Carolina, but with a unique path to earning his scholarship.
Repp first caught the attention of Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer after displaying blazing speed at camp last summer, earning a scholarship offer on the spot. However, an early-season ACL tear slowed down his recruiting process. Despite the setback, Beamer and wide receivers coach Mike Furrey never wavered in their support.
Now, Repp has finalized his commitment—he will join the team as a preferred walk-on this summer, with the expectation of securing a scholarship in January.
Why South Carolina?
“I’ll be reporting this summer and on the team for the fall,” Repp confirmed. “With my situation, I had lots of talks with the coaching staff and decided this was the best option for everyone. With my ACL rehab, I want to get on campus as soon as possible. Working with the staff and my new teammates is my No. 1 priority.”
While other schools remained in contact, Repp emphasized that South Carolina always felt like home.
“Since receiving the offer this summer, I’ve always felt like the University of South Carolina was the place for me,” he said.
A Versatile Weapon for the Gamecocks
Repp was nothing short of electric as a junior, racking up 63 catches for 1,510 yards and 27 touchdowns. His versatility was on full display, accumulating 2,393 all-purpose yards and 32 total touchdowns.
Beamer and Furrey see him as more than just a receiver—they believe he can make an impact in multiple ways.
“It’s not just about me as a receiver,” Repp said. “Special teams, returning kicks and punts—I can be used in a lot of different ways.”
Despite standing at 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, Repp isn’t concerned about his size.
“Beamer and Furrey told me I’ve got elite route running, elite ball skills, elite hands, elite speed—the only thing I don’t have that’s elite is height,” Repp said. “But there are ways to work around that. I don’t need to be a 6-5 outside receiver—I can thrive in the slot, in the return game, and anywhere they need me in that offense.”
A Bright Future Ahead
While Repp’s journey to South Carolina has been unconventional, his determination and talent have never been in question. Now, as he prepares to step onto campus this summer, he’s ready to prove why Beamer and Furrey stood by him through it all.
