With several South Carolina Gamecocks showcasing their talents at the NFL Combine, one player who stood out not just for his performance but also for his words was linebacker Demetrius Knight.
After spending six seasons in college football—including a standout final year at South Carolina—Knight took the podium and delivered a strong endorsement of the Gamecocks’ future under head coach Shane Beamer.
“South Carolina is going to be a team to be reckoned with,” Knight declared. “For years and years to come. As long as Beamer is there doing his thing and laying the law down like he has been, they’re going to be a great team to watch this year. I can’t wait to see what they do.”
He also singled out quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who is poised to lead the team in 2025.
“I hope LaNorris continues to work his magic like he would display every Saturday. But South Carolina is going to be a team to watch.”
Knight’s Impact on South Carolina Football
Knight’s journey in college football took him through Georgia Tech and Charlotte before landing at South Carolina for his final season. In 2024, he made his mark with:
- 82 tackles
- 8 tackles for loss
- 2 sacks
- 1 interception
- Played in all 13 games for the Gamecocks
His leadership and defensive presence helped South Carolina remain competitive, and now, he’s looking forward to seeing the next generation carry the torch.
Gamecocks on the Rise
With Shane Beamer at the helm and LaNorris Sellers set to take charge at quarterback, expectations for South Carolina football continue to climb.
And if Demetrius Knight’s words are any indication, the Gamecocks aren’t just building for next season—they’re building for years to come.
