The USC Trojans are making waves in the national recruiting scene. Their top-ranked 2026 recruiting class is now targeting a prospect committed to a Southeastern Conference powerhouse: South Carolina commit Peyton Dyer. The four-star cornerback himself announced the USC offer, though he reaffirmed his commitment to the Gamecocks on Tuesday.
However, a USC offer in the 2026 cycle carries significant weight. The Trojans have been the most aggressive recruiting team in February, already pulling off one impressive flip. They recently flipped four-star Oregon quarterback commit Jonas Williams, and secured a verbal commitment from four-star edge rusher Simote Katoanga, who turned down offers from five College Football Playoff contenders, including Arizona State, Clemson, Georgia, and national championship game participants Notre Dame and Ohio State.
This isn’t USC’s first SEC flip. Last year, they swayed former Mississippi State cornerback commit Steve Miller to join their 2025 class. Interestingly, Miller is also from Georgia, Dyer’s home state.
USC’s pursuit of Dyer began in January. Dyer told Chris Trevino of 247Sports that secondary coach Doug Belk visited his high school. “I was blessed. I had a conversation with Coach Belk in person after he came up to my school,” Dyer said. “He is a great coach. Looking forward to seeing me down there.” Dyer subsequently scheduled a visit to USC for June 6, according to Trevino. “Me and Coach Belk’s relationship is starting to get heavy. I feel we have a great relationship,” Dyer added.
Landing Dyer would add the nation’s No. 25-ranked cornerback to USC’s roster. However, Dyer also has official visits planned for South Carolina and Georgia.
If Dyer flips to USC, he’d be their fourth cornerback commit in the 2026 class. The others are four-star RJ Sermons, four-star Brandon Lockhart, and Madden Riordan, who has been committed to USC since November 2023.
