Weather Chaos Strikes! South Carolina Softball’s Top-10 Showdown Gets shifted due to weather crisis.

South Carolina Softball Suffers First Loss in Thrilling Battle Against Oklahoma

The South Carolina Gamecocks experienced their first setback of the season on Friday night, falling 9-10 to fellow unbeaten powerhouse, the Oklahoma Sooners. In a fiercely contested showdown, USC proved they can compete with the nation’s best. However, their chance at redemption will have to wait a little longer than expected.

Schedule Change Due to Weather

Originally planned as a Friday-Saturday-Sunday series, the matchup has been adjusted due to cold and rainy conditions in Norman on Saturday. With temperatures expected to stay in the 40s and a 95% chance of rain, officials made the call to reschedule Saturday’s game. Instead, the teams will now face off in a doubleheader on Sunday under clearer skies.

Doubleheader Details

The first game of Sunday’s doubleheader is set for 2:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on SEC Network and the ESPN app. The second game, which serves as the series finale, will start approximately 40 minutes after the first game concludes—likely between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., depending on any delays. While the second game won’t air on traditional television, fans can catch the action on SEC Network+.

Gamecocks Look to Bounce Back

With the loss, South Carolina now sits at 20-1 on the 2025 season. Ranked as high as No. 9, they will need at least one win on Sunday to maintain their strong position in the national rankings. Meanwhile, Oklahoma improved to 20-0, but USC became the first team this season to push the Sooners to a one-run game—a testament to their competitiveness.

Sunday’s doubleheader will be a crucial test for the Gamecocks as they aim to bounce back and hand Oklahoma their first loss of the year.
