“Dawn Staley Sounds the Alarm: What South Carolina Must Fix Before Battling Indiana!”

Dawn Staley Focused on Fixing Gamecocks’ Flaws Ahead of March Madness Clash with Indiana

After a dominant 108-48 victory over Tennessee Tech, South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley isn’t celebrating just yet. She’s already locked in on the next challenge: the Indiana Hoosiers in the NCAA Tournament.

Speaking to ESPN after the win, Staley highlighted key areas where the Gamecocks must improve before facing Indiana.

“We’ve certainly got to control the pace of the game,” Staley said. “Their ability to penetrate is paramount. So for us, we’ve got to disrupt… We can’t turn the ball over. And our bench has to step up just like they have all season.”

The Gamecocks showcased their offensive firepower in their third 100-point game this season. Freshman Joyce Edwards led the charge with 22 points, while MiLaysia Fulwiley added 15.

However, the No. 9 seed Indiana Hoosiers could pose a tougher test. The last time these two teams met was in the 2024 Sweet 16, where South Carolina squeaked by with a 79-75 win.

Now, the Gamecocks will face Indiana again on Sunday, March 23, at Colonial Life Arena. With March Madness heating up, Staley knows her team must be at its best to keep their championship dreams alive.
