“Dawn Staley Breaks Silence After Landing Star Transfer Madina Okot – Fans Will Love This!”

In a major addition for the South Carolina Gamecocks, Madina Okot has officially committed to join Dawn Staley’s squad, giving the team a powerful boost in the frontcourt. The news came shortly after MiLaysia Fulwiley’s surprising exit, and Coach Staley responded with optimism and confidence.

In a statement shared by Greenville Online, Staley said,

Madina gives our frontcourt additional size and speed. She has the ability to score, rebound and defend, and her competitiveness and SEC experience are added bonuses. We’re excited to bring her to our Gamecock family, and I know the FAMS are going to love watching her play.

Okot, a Mississippi State transfer, started all 34 games last season and made a strong impression—highlighted by a 21-point, 23-rebound explosion in a win over Vanderbilt. She ranked fourth in the SEC in rebounds per game and was fourth nationally in field goal percentage at 64.9%.

This commitment marks the second major portal win for Staley this offseason, following the addition of former Florida State guard Ta’Niya Latson. However, the excitement is tempered by the unexpected loss of Fulwiley, a standout guard who recently entered the transfer portal, catching fans and analysts off guard.

Despite the change, the Gamecocks appear poised for another dominant season, with Okot and Latson ready to fill some big shoes on the court.
