Te-Hina Paopao and South Carolina Stars Break Their Silence After MiLaysia Fulwiley’s Shocking LSU Move!”

The biggest shockwave of the women’s college basketball offseason hit on April 25, when former South Carolina Gamecocks standout MiLaysia Fulwiley announced she’s heading to Baton Rouge to join Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers.

Mulkey wasted no time celebrating the major pickup. In an April 25 press release, she shared, “I’m excited to welcome MiLaysia as the newest member of our LSU Tiger family! She’s bringing her incredible playmaking ability to Baton Rouge, standing out as one of the most electrifying talents in college basketball.”

You might expect Fulwiley’s former teammates to be a little salty about the move — but instead, many from South Carolina showed nothing but love in her Instagram announcement.

Former Gamecocks guard and No. 18 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft to the Atlanta Dream, Te-Hina Paopao, hyped her up, commenting, “OOOWWWEEEEE 🔥🔥🔥.”

Bree Hall, drafted No. 20 overall by the Indiana Fever, also dropped her support with a simple, fiery “🔥🔥.”

Meanwhile, Sania Feagin, now with the Los Angeles Sparks as the No. 21 pick, chimed in with “❤️❤️🔥.”

Injured South Carolina superstar Ashlyn Watkins added, “congrats my boy 🫶🏽.”

Senior center Sakima Walker first shouted, “FINALLY 😩!!!” before following up with, “happy for you brothaaa 🥹❤️!!!”

Despite the flood of positivity, there’s no denying that the already fierce South Carolina vs. LSU rivalry just got even spicier heading into next season. With Fulwiley switching sides, all eyes will be locked on their next showdown.
