LSU Lands Star Transfer MiLaysia Fulwiley to Boost Women’s Basketball Roster
The LSU Tigers women’s basketball team made a major splash on Friday, officially announcing the transfer of standout guard MiLaysia Fulwiley from their SEC rivals, the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Head coach Kim Mulkey couldn’t hide her excitement about the newest addition to the Tigers’ roster.
“I’m excited to welcome MiLaysia as the newest member of our LSU Tiger family!” Mulkey shared. “She’s bringing her incredible playmaking ability to Baton Rouge, standing out as one of the most electrifying talents in college basketball. Her ability to impact winning has been clear throughout her career, and we can’t wait to see her shine in purple and gold at the PMAC soon!”

The Tigers had a strong season, wrapping up with a 31-6 overall record and a third-place SEC finish. Their campaign ended in the Elite Eight after a tough 72-65 loss to the UCLA Bruins.
Meanwhile, Fulwiley played a crucial role for the South Carolina Gamecocks, who finished as the NCAA Tournament runner-up after falling to the UConn Huskies in the championship game.
Despite mostly coming off the bench, Fulwiley was a consistent spark plug, averaging 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game — all in just 18.9 minutes per outing across 39 appearances without a single start.
Standing at 5-foot-10, Fulwiley built an impressive resume at South Carolina. She was named the SEC Tournament MVP and earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2024. She also etched her name in the record books by posting the highest free-throw percentage for a freshman in Gamecocks’ history (.782 on 79-of-101 shooting) and setting the mark for most games played by a freshman (38) during the 2023-24 season.
LSU, who lost key players like Sa’Myah Smith, Jersey Wolfenbarger, and Aalyah Del Rosario to the transfer portal, is looking to reload and chase national glory — and Fulwiley’s arrival could be the key piece they needed.
