Dawn Staley is keeping the momentum going even in the offseason, as the legendary South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball head coach continues to make headlines.
After guiding the Gamecocks to the national championship game—where they were ultimately edged out by Geno Auriemma and the UConn Huskies—Staley has shifted her attention to a new mission: her “Uncommon Favor” book tour.
The tour follows the release of Staley’s authored book, Uncommon Favor, which shares personal reflections, life lessons, and stories from her celebrated basketball journey—both as a player and a coach. Now, she’s connecting directly with fans through a series of meet-and-greets centered around the book’s message.
While a New York City event is already on the calendar for May, Staley recently announced that the tour is officially making its way to Columbia, South Carolina—the heart of Gamecocks country.
“SC, it’s official – my book tour is coming home!” Staley announced. “Join me in Columbia (and Philly and NYC) to talk about Uncommon Favor! Register to attend at the link in bio. I can’t wait to see you there! @booksamillion, @unclebobbies, @bnfifthavenue, @AtriaBooks and @SimonAndSchuster.”
Explaining what inspired her to write the book, Staley said:
“I’ve been demanded by my friends, my family, strangers of all kinds [to] write a book,” she told Mayra Parrilla Guerrero of WIS10. “Ya’ll I listened and I wrote the book ya’ll.”
Dawn Staley, widely regarded as one of the most iconic figures in women’s college basketball, has transformed the South Carolina Gamecocks program into a dynasty. Under her leadership, the team has claimed three national championships, made seven Final Four appearances, and captured nine SEC regular-season titles along with nine SEC Tournament titles.
Even off the court, Staley continues to inspire and uplift—with her story, her leadership, and now, her book.
