Nike Set to Drop A’ja Wilson’s First Signature Shoe, with Dawn Staley Joining the Celebration
Nike is officially launching A’ja Wilson’s first-ever signature sneaker, and the buzz around the release is electric. The brand unveiled the announcement on Saturday with a vibrant, feel-good commercial that featured fans of all ages singing, clapping, and celebrating Wilson’s rise from playgrounds to WNBA playoffs. Among the familiar faces in the video was none other than Dawn Staley, Wilson’s former college coach and lifelong mentor.
The campaign, promoting “The A’One” sneaker, dropped across Nike’s platforms with the caption:
“From the playground to the playoffs, real ones know there’s only one A’ja. The A’One drops May 6 in SNKRS.”
Dawn Staley, known for her deep bond with Wilson dating back to their championship-winning days at South Carolina, appeared dancing in a shop during the commercial and later took to the comment section to express her pride:
“A’JA WILSON!! God’s uncommon favor is on display play play!!!! Congrats A! Love you! Proud of you!”
Wilson’s collegiate career under Staley from 2014 to 2018 was nothing short of historic. In 138 games, she averaged 17.3 points per game and peaked during her senior season with 22.6 points per game, earning her the National Player of the Year honor. Together, she and Staley secured South Carolina’s first national championship in 2017.
In 2018, Wilson was selected No. 1 overall by the Las Vegas Aces, and has since become a three-time WNBA MVP, two-time WNBA champion, and one of the most dominant forces in the league.
Now 28, Wilson continues to elevate her brand, with The A’One making her the first active WNBA player in years to receive a signature Nike shoe. The sneaker will launch in the vibrant “Pink A’ura” colorway on Tuesday, May 6, and will be available exclusively through the Nike SNKRS app. The pricing is set at $110 for adults and $90 for big kids.
With Staley cheering her on and fans rallying behind her, A’ja Wilson’s legacy just stepped into another level of greatness.
