Tiffany Davis, a former standout from South Carolina women’s basketball, is stepping into a new leadership role. The 2016–2017 national champion has been named the next head coach of the girls’ basketball program at Abington Friends School, as announced by the school on social media.
Davis takes over a Jenkintown, Pennsylvania-based program that has faced challenges in recent seasons. Her mission? To restore the Roos to their former glory, particularly the success they enjoyed when they clinched a state title during the 2019–2020 season.
A Texas native, Davis committed to USC as part of the Class of 2012 and wore the garnet and black for five seasons. Though her career was impacted by injuries, limiting her to just 70 games, she was known for her grit, team-first attitude, and leadership. She earned eight starts and averaged 1.9 points and 1.0 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game.
Her final season came during head coach Dawn Staley’s historic first national title run. Davis saw playing time late in the championship game against Mississippi State, before injuries ultimately ended her playing career. She chose not to pursue a sixth season of eligibility through a medical redshirt.
Throughout her time at South Carolina, Davis shared the court with Gamecock legends like A’ja Wilson, Alaina Coates, Ty Harris, Allisha Gray, Kaela Davis, and Mikiah Herbert Harrigan. She also played alongside Khadijah Sessions, who now serves as a current assistant coach for the Gamecocks.
