Kamilla Cardoso Shines Bright in WNBA Before Heading to AmeriCup with Team Brazil
Kamilla Cardoso is doing exactly what Gamecock Nation always believed she would—dominate the pros with the same grace, grit, and impact she displayed in Columbia. The former South Carolina star, who helped lead the Gamecocks to a national championship and earned Most Outstanding Player honors in the Final Four, is making major waves in her second WNBA season with the Chicago Sky.
Cardoso delivered a breakout performance in her most recent game, dropping a career-high 27 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists in a win over the Los Angeles Sparks. It was a powerful send-off before she temporarily steps away from the WNBA to represent Brazil in the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, set to take place from June 28 to July 6 in Santiago, Chile.

Proudly wearing her national team colors, Cardoso recently shared photos in her Brazilian jersey on social media. Her Chicago Sky teammate and former SEC rival, Angel Reese, responded with affection, commenting:
“Miss you already millllyyyyy. But you look so pretty & happy.”
So far this season, Cardoso has been a consistent force for Chicago, averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting an impressive 56.1% from the field. She’s established herself as a dependable interior presence and a vital part of the Sky’s rebuild.
South Carolina fans always believed in her potential, and she’s now proving them right on the biggest stages. With her talent now bridging the WNBA and international competition, Kamilla Cardoso is no longer just a star—she’s becoming a global basketball powerhouse.
