She’s Unstoppable! Former South Carolina Star Makes WNBA History with Another Player of the Month Award

Allisha Gray Dominates WNBA Spotlight with Record-Breaking Season

Former South Carolina star Allisha Gray is taking her WNBA career to new heights in 2025 — and the league is taking notice. With career-best numbers across the board, Gray has positioned herself as a serious contender for the WNBA MVP, joining fellow Gamecock legends A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston in the elite conversation.

This week, Gray added another major accolade, being named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month for the second time this season — a first in Atlanta Dream franchise history. She’s also the first player in the East to win back-to-back Player of the Month honors since Sabrina Ionescu did so in 2024.

Gray earned the June award with averages of 18.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game, while shooting an impressive 45.1% from the field and 41.5% from beyond the arc. Her consistent two-way production has played a major role in Atlanta’s rise to the No. 4 seed in the current league standings — one of the most dramatic improvements of the season.

On the year, Gray is averaging a career-high 19.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, shooting 46.9% from the field, 42.4% from three, and 82.1% from the free-throw line. She’s also logged a double-double and several flawless playmaking outings, including multiple five-assist, zero-turnover games.

Her stellar form hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans, either. Gray was recently named a starter for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, joining Wilson and Boston once again on the league’s biggest stage. Napheesa Collier and Caitlin Clark will serve as team captains and draft their squads on July 8, with the All-Star Game airing July 19 on ABC and streaming on ESPN+ at 8:30 p.m.

Whether it’s efficiency, leadership, or explosive scoring, Allisha Gray is putting together a season for the history books — and she’s just getting started.
