South Carolina Legends Reunite as WNBA All-Star Starters

When the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game tips off at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 19, three former South Carolina Gamecocks will be front and center—proving once again that Dawn Staley’s program produces greatness.

A’ja Wilson, Aliyah Boston, and Allisha Gray, all former stars under Coach Staley, have been named starters for this year’s All-Star showcase. Their presence is a testament to the powerhouse culture Staley built in Columbia, South Carolina.

Gamecock Greats Headline the WNBA All-Star Stage

Wilson and Boston will suit up for Team Clark, captained by Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark, while Gray will represent Team Collier, led by Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx.

⭐ A’ja Wilson – The Reigning Queen

Widely regarded as one of the most dominant forces in women’s basketball, A’ja Wilson is once again a face of the All-Star Game. A Gamecock from 2014 to 2018, Wilson led South Carolina to its first NCAA title in 2017, earning National Player of the Year as a senior. She also became the program’s all-time leading scorer.

Dawn Staley trusted me with everything, and I just wanted to deliver for her,” Wilson once said.

Now starring for the Las Vegas Aces, Wilson is a three-time WNBA MVP and two-time WNBA Champion, and continues to elevate the league with her performance.

🌟 Aliyah Boston – The Next Generation

Aliyah Boston, another homegrown star under Staley’s watch, played for the Gamecocks from 2019 to 2023. She helped lead South Carolina to the 2022 NCAA Championship, winning National Player of the Year and two Defensive Player of the Year honors along the way.

Now a rising star with the Indiana Fever, Boston is becoming one of the most consistent and impactful players in the league. Her selection as a three-time All-Star starter solidifies her status as one of the brightest young names in basketball.

💫 Allisha Gray – The Underrated Weapon

While Allisha Gray may fly a bit under the radar compared to Wilson and Boston, her impact is just as significant. Gray transferred from North Carolina and joined South Carolina in time for the 2017 championship run, giving the Gamecocks a crucial backcourt weapon.

I just wanted to be part of something bigger—and Coach Staley made that happen,” Gray has shared in past interviews.

Gray entered the WNBA in 2017 and immediately made waves, earning Rookie of the Year honors with the Dallas Wings. Now with the Atlanta Dream, she’s back in the All-Star spotlight, earning her third All-Star nod.

From Columbia to the national stage, Wilson, Boston, and Gray continue to carry the torch for Gamecock greatness—showcasing the unmatched legacy of Dawn Staley’s program.
